Company Background

Vision Biotech specialises in the development and manufacture of point-of-care rapid test assays. Its core business includes producing high quality assays that are stable and durable enough for the difficult conditions found in remote laboratories, clinics and distributed testing stations found in Africa and specifically sub-Saharan Africa – with a keen focus on infectious diseases.

The company’s development staff is able to access large quantities of samples from the field and provide close support to end-users.

Vision Biotech produces all its assay reagents and several of its raw materials in South Africa and manufactures completed OEM and branded product, as well as certain raw materials for other manufacturers. It also boasts a bank of international collaborators and distributors.

Role of Intern

Ashley is currently working in the Production and Research and Development department at Vision Biotech. Key to the job is optimising conditions for stability and the functioning of the gold conjugates. Ashley also conducts research for the development of new tests.
